These Boots Were Made for Walking

This past weekend Jay and I spent some time working in the yard. He mowed, used the weed eater, and blew the mess away. Tuttle helped me weed the flower beds. While we were hard at work, our neighbors and their two year old son were outside, and Tuttle watched Sam playing in the yard in his rainboots.

I bought Tuttle his Thomas rain boots for Christmas, and he had NO interest.

After playing with Sam and using their play mowers to get the lawns up to standard, Tuttle has started putting on his boots at home and attempting to drag me to Sam's house to play everyday since then. :)

Art in the Park and GNO

Even though we are in DESPERATE need of rain to wash away this annoying pollen, I was happy that it held off for our first play group with the Brookhaven/Buckhead SAHMs. We met at the park for an art project and let the kids get out some energy.

Tuttle loves painting, so this caterpillar project was right up his alley.

I enjoyed meeting some new moms in the neighborhood and look forward to play groups in the future.

After dropping Tuttle off with Grandmommy and Grandaddy for the weekend, I went to my monthly checkout of our baby girl and then took a THREE hour uninterrupted nap! It was just what I needed.

Last night the girls and I went to a new restaurant, Miller Union, and had a great time chatting. We were shocked when we got up to leave and realized it was almost 11:00pm! We were night owls! :)

Sunday Perfection

We enjoyed a perfect Sunday afternoon complete with BEAUTIFUL weather and good friends.

We started the afternoon with a birthday celebration for Tuttle's friend, Connor, at Leaping Lizards. Jay had never been before, so I was excited to show him how much fun and adventurous our little boy has become. After a period of clinging to me, he FINALLY started showing off! Try as I might, there were no successful pictures because Tuttle and his daddy were too quick on the inflatable obstacles!

Yes, that is our little boy looking too big at the birthday celebration.

Kisses for Mommy!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Connor!

The idea of eating the cupcake has proven to be more tempting than actually eating them. Tuttle did not show any interest in cupcakes at either party this weekend. He must take after his Daddy's sugar dislike.

After the party, we decided it would be a crime to go home and sit inside on such a PERFECT day, so we ventured to Fellini's Pizza and Candler Park for a little playground fun.

Everyone in the Thorne Family will be headed to bed early tonight!

Old McDonald Had a Farm

The last few days have been HORRIBLE with teething. We never experienced any problem with his other teeth, but I think it is time for his molars to break through. Since Tuttle is using his words so much more now, he woke up Wednesday night repeating the same thing again and again. Neither Jay nor I could figure it out, and I felt helpless for the first time as a mommy. On Thursday afternoon, I finally realized he was saying, "My teeth!" Poor little boy. Thursday night was honestly the worst night in his life even as an infant. He woke up all night complaining about his teeth, so he ended up sleeping in my arms. He is still showing signs of discomfort today, but his fun and energetic personaility is starting to return. (He is currently "vacuuming" his playroom!)

Luckily, we had something special to look forward to this weekend! We celebrated Will's second birthday today with a farm themed party complete with animals! I had been looking forward to this exciting party for weeks. I could not wait to see how Tuttle reacted to the animals since he LOVES to make all the farm animal noises. :)

Tuttle and the Birthday Boy, Will

Tuttled LOVED the animals right away, and there were tons! The company brought a bunny, pig, rooster, miniature horse and cow, a llama, a goat with two babies, just to name a few! Tuttle prefered the bunny and the rooster, but he showed NO FEAR going right up to the other animals!

Most of the neighborhood buddies came. Here are Calley and Joshua, Tuttle's first friend.

Tuttle taking a much needed juice break

Jamie thought of every detail. She bought bandanas and pinwheels for the kids and made the CUTEST cake and cupcakes!

Happy Birthday, Will! Thank you for such fun memories at your party!

P.S. I wanted Jay to take a few maternity pics of me while I was dressed. (I usually only remember once I am in my pajamas with no makeup!) Here I am at almost 21 weeks. Time is flying!!

Halfway Point!

I will be halfway through my pregnancy on Monday! Twenty weeks! YEAH! This time around is definitely moving much more quickly than it did with Tuttle. I guess keeping up with a toddler makes the days fly by. :)

I can honestly say this pregnancy has been much harder. By no means is it as bad as some mommies experience, but I am not the annoying mommy-to-bed that raves about pregnancy and wonders how anyone could not LOVE every second. From morning sickness to a painful sciatic nerve, Margaret Ruth is giving us a run for our money already!

Our Ultrasound on Friday

The grandmothers and I are enjoying buying little girl clothes this time. These are a few of my favorite pieces so far:

I will post a belly picture tomorrow in my church clothes. I am currently still in my pajamas at 12:30 because we are having an absolutely LAZY Saturday. My in-laws are in town and entertaining Tuttle, so I am taking advantage of this time!

Talking Explosion

I swear that Tuttle is growing up right before my eyes. Everyday he looks less like a baby and more like a big boy. In the last few weeks, he talking has exploded! I read in a parenting magazine that a child should say between 50 to 70 words at age 18-24 months. I thought that sounded like a lot until I started listing Tuttle's current vocabulary. He is definitely right on target. :)

I wanted to list some of my favorite things about Tuttle right now:

1. He LOVES singing songs. His favorites are "Row, Row, Row Your Boat," "ABCs," "The Rocket Ship Song- Zoom, Zoom," "The Muffin Man," "Five Little Monkeys," and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." I frequently sing to him in the car or during a diaper change. After each song, he claps and says, "More!"

2. His favorite animals are cats and elephants.

3. One of his favorite books is No, David. On the page where David picks his nose, Tuttle always copies David and picks his nose. No, Tuttle!!

4. He loves to scream "Bye!" to people at the grocery store, library, or park when we leave.

5. He enjoys pointing out and saying certain body parts: hair, eyes, nose, teeth, and ears.

6. He has a train OBSESSION and will chase Jay around the house with his trains screming, "Chugg-a-Chee!" until Jay will play with him. He likes it best when Jay pushes the trains so hard that they fly off the table. Tuttle shouts, "Oh, no!" each time.

7. Whenever I get out the vacuum, Tuttle runs to his playroom to get his vacuum to help.

8. Tuttle loves throwing things away. He is actually very good about only throwing away trash and not his toys.

9. The cutest words he says:

Oh, no!
Elephant
More
Gone, gone!
Train
Sorry
Thank (for Thank You!)
Cheese (for Please)
Truck
Shoe
Sock
Teeth
Smelly
Night

10. I honestly miss Tuttle the moment I put him to bed. He goes to bed between 6:45-7:00 now. Otherwise he wakes up too early and may wake up during the night. There is not a terrible two's toddler living at this house! :)

Tumbling and Trains

It is now safe to say that the Thorne family beat "Stomach Bug 2011." Luckily, only Tuttle caught the nasty sickness, but it resulted in about a week of off and on symptoms: throwing up and diarrhea. I know you wanted the exact details! :)

Jamie and I were excited to take the boys to the Touch-a-Truck event in Decatur this past Saturday, but the HORRIBLE storms made that impossible, so it has been rescheduled for April. We were determined to let the boys get out some energy, so we went to Hippo Hop Saturday morning.

Jay had a boys' night with Tuttle Saturday night while I went out for a bachelorette party. Currently, the train table monopolizes 90% of Tuttle's attention, and he is constantly bringing us trains to join in on the fun. Jay was not a huge advocate of the train table in December, but he can now see how much Tuttle LOVES it. I snapped some pictures of my two guys playing before I left. CHUGG-A-CHEE!!!

This picture is a little blurry, but just makes me smile. I cannot put into words how much I love this little boy!

Happy Weekend!!
