Summer is Here!

Although we started the week with a less than desirable trip to the dentist for Tuttle,

we filled the rest of the week with classic summer fun!

Multiple trips to the pool,

playdates with sweet friends,

and lazy mornings sleeping in were perfects activities to start our summer out right.

Happy Summer!! :)

Memorial Day Weekend Part II

We filled up the rest of our Memorial Day weekend with tons of family fun!

Sunday we had a lazy morning until Daddy cut the grass. We watched and had a picnic outside.

During naps I whipped up some yummy Rotel cups for a neighborhood party. It was hosted by the family of Tuttle's classmate, Will B. They have the most beautiful home, and a bounce house was set up for the kids. There was also an amazing tree house in the backyard that Tuttle disappeared to a majority of the party.

After sleeping in on Monday morning, we loaded up to go furniture shopping for a new living room couch and rug. We found some great pieces that will be delivered next Thursday! No more slipcovered couch!!

Next we grabbed lunch at Fellini's Pizza. We went to a different location than we normally do, and we had the entire patio area to ourselves. It was perfect weather, and we feasted on pizza and ice cream.

Running in the sprinkler after naps wrapped up our Monday. It really feels like summer is here now.

Memorial Day Weekend Part I

We have already been in full swing enjoying our Memorial Day weekend. My stepsister had a small wedding ceremony on top of Stone Mountain yesterday afternoon, so we went as a family to the event. It was the perfect day because some of our good friends had invited us to the laser show that night, as well.
We rode the skyride to the top of Stone Mountain and explored the top and the amazing view.

Gram and Grumps hosted a reception for the wedding guests at a park restaurant afterward. Tuttle and Maggie were so well behaved. We have finally entered the stage of enjoying meals at a restaurant without stuffing food in our mouths as fast as possible. :) YEAH!

We headed to the lawn to watch the laser show next, and we completely enjoyed hanging out in the grass for a few hours before the laser show. The kids ran around while the adults lounged around and chatted. It was so relaxing!

We even got a successful family photo!

Jay and I had both seen the laser show as kids, but we had not been back in years. This was one of the biggest days of the year for crowds to come, but the lawn provides enough room to run around and not feel cramped.

The show didn't start until after 9pm, but Tuttle and Maggie were so good waiting for it to begin. They usually go to bed at 8pm, so we were curious how they would act staying up so late. Tuttle was in awe the entire time during the show while Maggie fell asleep in my lap about halfway through.

It was a perfect day with sweet friends to kick off the summer.

Tuttle's Last Day of School

Today was Tuttle's last day of preschool in the Treefrog class. It has been a wonderful year. He made so many sweet friends and learned a lot.

I cannot believe how much bigger he looks compared to his first day of school in September.

Kristen and I were in charge of the end of the year party, and I found a cute theme on Pinterest, so we went with it. :) The theme was "Orange You Glad It's Summer," and all the food and decorations were orange. The kids enjoyed sandwiches, Goldfish, orange slices, and carrots. Orange cupcakes with sprinkles finished off the feast.

We loved Tuttle's teachers this year. Ms. Clair and Ms. Christine will definitely be hard to top next year.

The kids and I are looking forward to a fun summer including several camps, beach trips, and pool days. Tuttle also starts piano lessons in June. :)

Maggie's Gymnnastics Award

Today Maggie received her gymnastics award for finishing the season. After Tuttle got his soccer medal on Tuesday, I have been reminding Maggie that her special day would be Monday at gymnastics. It might have not been such a good idea to talk it up so much because she could barely focus on Coach Todd's directions because she was so excited!

After the normal class routine, the kids sat together on the balance beam to receive a special ribbon and sunglasses.

Maggie proudly walked up to receive her ribbon and glasses. :)

Team Picture.

Maggie will tell everyone that her BEST friend is Coach Todd. If she is ever not listening, I will threaten to call Coach Todd, and Maggie quickly does whatever she is told.

Maggie will continue gymnastics throughout the summer, so this is not really the end of her participation. We absolutely LOVE Jump Start Gym and Coach Todd! Olympics, here we come!!

Shots, Soccer, and Snapshots

Tuttle had his four year checkup at the pediatrician this week. The doctor informed us that Tuttle had not been to see him since his three year checkup. Healthy boy!

His stats this year were:
41.5 inches in height (74%)
38 pounds in weight (66%)
He is on track with all his developmental needs, too. :)

Unfortunately Tuttle had to have his finger pricked to check his iron level and received two shots in his leg. Although he was upset with the pain associated with the needles, he got really upset when the nurse put a SpongeBob Band-Aid on him. He told the nurse that his mommy did not let him watch that show, and he needed a new Band-Aid. His response is very typical of my rule-following son. :)

Soccer ended Tuesday evening, too. Although the shots made Tuttle a little sore, we ended the season with a smile and a medal. Tuttle graduates from Kiddie Kickers to a real soccer team in the fall with Saturday games.

Somehow Maggie snagged a soccer medal, too. She was so proud!

Maggie has been her usual spirited self this week. She is definitely going to give Jay and me a run for our money! I was able to capture some sweet shots of her when she was not plotting her next mischievous plan!

Family hike planned for this weekend. :)

Teacher of the Year

Aunt Peach was awarded "Teacher of the Year" at her school a few months ago, and we attended the award ceremony Monday evening. She teaches art at Tadmore Elementary, and we could not be more proud of her!

When Grandmommy told Maggie to smile, this is what she got!

Much better.

Tuttle and Maggie love Grandmommy!

After visiting with some yummy food, we entered the auditorium to watch Aunt Peach get her award. There were several hundred guests there to watch the ceremony for all the teachers of the year and retirees for the county. As Peach crossed the stage, Tuttle screamed out, "Hey, Peach!" :)

Unfortunately two young kids do not do sit still for long, so we had to leave before the award ceremony was over.

We are so proud of Aunt Peach. We always knew she was the best, but now her school recognizes that, too!!
