Stitches for Jacob

I am shocked it took us this long to wind up with stitches on one of the babies, but Jacob and I found ourselves at the urgent care clinic on Friday afternoon. I will spare everyone photos of the injury, but Jacob was playing on the floor with Rosie when she nipped him on the forehead. It was completely innocent puppy play, but Jacob was left with a huge gash and a lot of tears.

Luckily Children's Healthcare of Atlanta just opened up an urgent care facility about a mile from our house, so Jacob was in good hands.

We were checked out very quickly to assess the damage, and Jacob was perfectly content waiting for the numbing gel to kick in with a ninja headband and "spicy chips."

The doctor decided that Jacob did need stitches, and we opted for a mild sedative to help with the discomfort.

The process was quick, and Jacob was telling the doctor that "he just loves her so much" as she was stitching him up. He need four stitches to close the wound. We were so proud of our tough boy.

I hope we do not return to urgent care for a long time, but with Jacob's antics, nothing would surprise me. :)

Thanksgiving Round 1

We celebrated our first Thanksgiving at Grandmommy and Grandaddy's house yesterday with Daddy's side of the family. It was the most perfect fall day, and we could not be more thankful.

I felt exactly like Rosie did at the end of the day. Full belly, full heart, and in desperate need of a nap. :)

Maggie Does State

Maggie and I spent the weekend at her last gymnastics meet of the season: State Finals! Maggie loves performing under pressure, so this was her favorite meet yet.

The boys went to Grandmommy and Grandaddy's house with Rosie while Daddy was in Athens with some buddies to cheer on the Dawgs. Gymnastics has been such a special activity for Maggie and me, so it was fitting to do the final meet with just the girls. :)

We kept up the tradition of riding with our favorite friends, Ms. Wendy and Elsa. The girls always claim they are each others' good luck charms.

We headed back to Roswell for the competition, and Aunt Peach and Holland came to cheer on our tiny gymnast. We could not have asked for more special guests for the state meet!

After some nervous moments from Mommy, Maggie pulled out some AMAZING scores and brought home three medals! She scored 9.05 on bars and placed 5th, 8.9 on beam and placed 9th, and scored 35.425 combined which placed her 9th on all around! It was a fantastic end to the season!

We celebrated with lunch with the team and coaches after the meet. All the parents were ready for margaritas!

Maggie is looking forward to training with Level 4 skills now. We are both sad that competition season is over until next fall.

Let The Feasting Begin

I attended three Thanksgiving feasts at school this week with my little turkeys.

Although we had plans for Jacob to play with a buddy, Maggie insisted that her brother come to her luncheon. Tuttle was not as enthused about having a wild guest at his Thanksgiving table. :)

Jacob's Thanksgiving feast included a handmade outfit from head to toe. Jacob was also one of the first children to volunteer what he was thankful for to all the classes and parents in the fellowship hall. He proudly announced that he was thankful for his mommy, daddy, Tuttle, and Maggie.

We cannot wait for Daddy to join us for the rest of our yummy meals. We probably just need to stop eating between now and then because we have A LOT of food to enjoy with our family and friends over the next week!

Rosie will be introduced to the rest of the family on Thanksgiving. We are very thankful to add our sweet puppy to the mix this year!

Party Weekend

The kids enjoyed celebrating three birthday parties this weekend with sweet friends. I guess everyone is trying to squeeze in events before the holidays take over. :)

Saturday the boys headed to the movies for Lawson's birthday while the girls went shopping. I loved having some quality time with our girl because she is always so busy with gymnastics. She picked out her winter coat since the temperatures dropped this week. We were also able to grab lunch at the mall and pick out gifts for her friends' party.

Maggie headed to Parker and Stella's celebration for the evening. We cheered the Dawgs to victory at home! SEC Championship, here we come!

Our annual family photos were Sunday morning, and it is officially easy to get everyone dressed and smiling. Jacob was such a ham. We cannot wait to see the final project. Stephanie always works her magic!

We found a new breakfast spot after photos. Although it took a while to get our orders, everyone practically licked their plates. Daddy had to order another side of collard greens to fill up Jacob's belly- he could not get enough!

Tuttle counted down the minutes until his buddy's party Sunday evening. Ethan treated all his guests to a game truck and dinner. Tuttle would never turn down the opportunity to play video games!

I cannot believe Thanksgiving is approaching so soon. The kids only have five days of school until a week of vacation time!

Sickness and Survival

The cooler temperatures seem here to stay, and some of us are not happy with the change in temperatures. (I am rejoicing that it is legging, sweater, and boot season!)

Unfortunately Daddy started feeling bad on Friday after Halloween and has been down for the count since the weekend. It has been survival mode over here while we manage all the sports, a new puppy, and a sick patient.

Tuttle had two games this past weekend, and thanks to our village, we managed to make it happen. I was able to cheer on our boy on Saturday while a teammate grabbed him on Sunday while I was with Maggie. Tuttle ended the weekend with one loss and one win. He continues to get more aggressive on the field and improve as a player. We are so happy with his new soccer club this year.

Maggie competed in her final regular season meet of the year. It was a big meet with a lot of tough competition, but the whole Peach Pit Brookhaven team brought their all to the gym. Maggie placed 2nd on bars and 8th on vault. Her beam and floor routines were solid, too.

We went out the eat with most of the team after the meet, and it was so much fun to watch the girls outside of the gym. They are the best of friends, and we are so lucky that Maggie is surrounded by such sweet and supportive teammates. I also really love the parents, and a belinni to end the day was absolutely necessary. :)

We are ready for Daddy to feel better. I know he is ready to get out of the bed! Jacob did find some things to be thankful for to start out his November unit at preschool.

I will be most thankful when Daddy is back to 100%.

Halloween 2019

A cold snap and rain threatened our Halloween fun, but the weather cooperated long enough for the kids to fill their bags with enough candy for the year.

Daddy joined in the costume fun this year.

Maggie learned quickly that she could get pulled around in the wagon by Daddy while she snuggled with a fleece blanket and ate candy. She always seems to find the loophole to the system. :)

We did not head to our normal trick-or-treating spot on Redding this year. Instead we hit up all the neighboring streets. We did not want to risk the long walk with the cold weather, but it was so much fun spending the night with our new neighbors.

The kids assessed their collections when we got home, and it was very clear that Jacob won Halloween this year!
