We Are Alive

My posts seem to get more infrequent as our lives get so much busier, but we are happy and fulfilled.

Jay and I have both taken on new roles at work. I increased my hours to 30 a week and have accepted more responsibilities both in the office and at job sites. Working for WR Mitchell Contracting has taught me so much already, and I love making an impact on the growing company with Will. Jay has transitioned out of Amazon and officially starts his new role with a private equity company this upcoming week. He will be the director of supply chain development and looks forward to taking charge of major changes at the company.

Fall sports are in full swing, so we spend the week at practices and the weekends coordinating game drop-offs and pick-ups. Maggie is typically starting her Saturday practice first at 8am, and Jacob follows shortly behind with a flag football game. Luckily they are both at the same park.

Maggie's team received evaluations this week to determine if they qualify to complete at their current level. Maggie is on track for Level 6, but she does need more work on bars. Nothing on her evaluation surprised her, and she is scheduled for two private lessons in the coming week and does not doubt that she will be ready to compete after the new year.

Jacob's team has lost their first two games, but he is enjoying the new sport and is always right in the action. He has been starting quarterback at both games, threw a beautiful pass for an extra point at the first game, and continues to make several "tackles" when he is on the field.

Tuttle's baseball team had Opening Day today, and those boys showed up to PLAY! They dominated their competition with a win of 8-0. It is a new world in the larger fields with older players, but Tuttle made two hits at bat. Unfortunately both hits resulted in outs before he successfully made it to first base. He is determined to move up in batting order and prove that he is needed in field.

Maggie and Jacob participated in the elementary school's annual Fun Run fundraiser on Thursday. The school raised over $42,000 toward new Chromebooks. Both sets of grandparents, Eric and Karissa, and our family contributed toward the goal, and Maggie and Jacob completed all 35 laps to secure their donations. Jacob took it very seriously and did not really acknowledge me until after he finished running. I was able to see Maggie for a second before she joined the special needs class to pair up with a buddy to complete the dash.

Leo has really fit in quickly to our family. He spends his days snuggling with Jay in his office, chasing Rosie's tail, and attempting to climb furniture. He even decided a dip into the fireplace was a good idea and resulted in a soot covered coat!

I am so proud of what our family is accomplishing. Each person is really making sure their jobs are done "right and well."
