Fall Break

We just returned from our fall break getaway to Hilton Head Island. Jay was able to take off the entire week with us. We left rainy weather in Roswell for perfect weather at the beach. It was such an carefree and fun vacation, and we did not want to come home!

The highlights of our trip included a ten mile bike ride, swimming and relaxing by the pool with our own cabana, a competitive putt putt game, kite flying, beach yoga, delicious food, and several games of Uno with an ocean view. While I mourn not having a little baby anymore, trips are much easier with my big kids, and we come home refreshed. It doesn't just feel like parenting in another location. :)

We started off the trip with a huge highlight when we ran into Herschel Walker at Cracker Barrel.

We successfully completed a ten mile round trip bike ride. Everyone pedaled, and Jacob declared that he did not want to do anything else other than ride bikes for the rest of the trip. We even saw alligators next to the path on our trek to breakfast.

I really thought I had this game in the bag, but Daddy beat me by ONE STROKE right at the end. He remains the reigning champion of the putt putt course.....

Our last night was spent at Harbour Town for dinner. Our waiter complimented the kids' manners several times, so we must be doing something right. :)

I hope visiting the beach in September becomes an annual tradition. The crowds are less, and the weather is amazing! I love sharing these special vacations with my favorite people.

Alive and Well

I realize I have not posted as consistently as previously years, but that is not because we do not have much going on. We are constantly on the move and filling all the hours of our days with school, work, practices, friends, and memories.

A quick update on everyone.....

Jacob was excited to play in Opening Day with his team on Saturday. While it is still coach pitch, the boys can be tagged out if they do not make it safely between the bases. Jacob scored one run for the Guardians and is ready for a great season!

Maggie is still devoted to practice three days a week at the gym. She is also LOVING practicing in Friends' Club at school and insists that we arrive to school early every day, so she can spend time with her special friends.

Tuttle has adjusted to middle school and even joined Book Club. Today his expander was removed at the orthodontist after almost of year. Braces will not start until he loses all his baby teeth, so we are predicting starting treatment around 13.

Jay is very busy at work, and I am subbing twice a week at the elementary school. We are both eager for a vacation next week for fall break!

The days are long, but the years are short.

Dawgs On Top!

The week seems to fly by much faster now that everyone is in school. Add on my substitute teaching and Jay's busy days at work, and all the days run together! We are enjoying getting into a routine, but it definitely takes some getting used to.

Jay and I were both able to get in some children free fun recently. It is absolutely necessary to recharge!

The neighborhood girls and I enjoyed a casual dinner out. It was the perfect night with beautiful weather and even more beautiful friends!

Jay hit the jackpot with a weekend away with buddies for the Georgia/Clemson game! While Tuttle and I watched on tv, this handsome group cheered the Dawgs to a win in Charlotte for our opening game!

We are looking forward to spending a family day tomorrow for Labor Day. It is always one of the last warm pool days of the summer, and everyone is ready to go out with a splash!
