Home Runs and Home Improvement

 Both boys played baseball games Saturday, and Jacob was thrilled to finally "compete" against another team. Five year old baseball is really just chaos on the field with half the boys dog piling for the ball, and the other half completely unaware that they are playing baseball. :) Jacob did manage to get a hit both times up to bat on the coach pitch, and he was right in the middle of the action chasing the ball and body slamming his teammates when the opposing team was up to bat. If you ask him, he will in insist that he also scored a home run and was given the game ball. Ps- no game ball was handed out....

Grandmommy and Grandaddy came to cheer on Tuttle at his game. While his team is not having the best luck winning, Tuttle continues to shine with strong batting and fielding. He is now consistently playing 2nd base with several important plays each game. We are so proud of his hard work this season!

Grandmommy took on a huge job at the house with helping me rework the bed in the front. I hated the pile of bushes since we moved in, and Grandmommy not only grew three beautiful hydrangea plants for me, but she removed the old bushes and landscaped the new bed. I could not have done it without her!

The pool is open for business, and there is nothing better than hearing all the neighborhood kids splashing in the backyard.

We ended our weekend with dinner and drinks at Jancy and Phil's house with all the Thorne cousins. Everyone actually lives in Roswell now, so there should be no excuse why this group does not get together more often. We had the best time!

Disney Surprise

 Jay and I planned our spring break trip to Disney months ago, but we kept it secret until the last minute. The kids were under the impression that we needed to get up super early to lay pine straw in the yard, but little did they know that we would be jumping in the car to head to Orlando!

This trip proved to be our easiest and more fun family trip to date. We did not pack a stroller or pack-n-play, and the kids were all in charge of wheeling their own suitcases (I packed them!). Aside from wearing masks in the parks, the limited capacity had us feeling like we had Disney all to ourselves! Such amazing memories and we cannot wait to return.

Easter Fun With My Peeps

 Jay and I both agree that March absolutely flew by! We are all itching for spring, and it is finally here! This time last year the COVID craziness that hit, and we are starting to see an end to this long and miserable tunnel. Jay and I received our first vaccine shot on Friday. There have been some side effects but mostly just super sore arms. One step closer to returning to normal! :)

Spring sports are in full swing, and we had our first triple commitment this past Saturday with Maggie's final regular season meet, baseball practice for Jacob, and team pictures and a baseball game for Tuttle. It was a divide and conquer event, so the boys headed to the fields while Maggie and I went to the gym.

We have been trying to go back to church more often. Even though we miss PRUMC so much, Roswell First United Methodist Church has been a positive addition to our move since Tom Davis is my childhood minister and also the minister that married Gram and Grumps AND Jay and me. We braved a torrential downpour on Palm Sunday, but we made it! Jacob entertained the congregation with his over zealous palm waving and then proceeded to fall asleep in the pew even though the organ music was practically rattling the church with its volume!

Gram and Grumps hosted everyone for an Easter lunch and egg hunt after church. Tricia, Cathy, and I brought the eggs to hide, and with so many grandchildren there were over 300 eggs to find! I thought of experience eggs for extra time with the grandparents. This also means a break for the parents! That is a win in my book!

I brought a festive dessert to share. I love any excuse to make a themed Pinterest idea.

The egg hunt was fast and furious, but all the kids ended up with baskets full. It was absolutely no surprise that Maggie ended up with the golden egg worth $50. Even Emma snagged a sleepover with Gram and Grumps.

Jacob is looking forward to his preschool egg hunt on Thursday before spring break next week. We *might* be celebrating Easter somewhere magical.... (spoiler alert: the kids have ZERO clue, and we want to keep it that way!)

Take Me Out To The Ballgame!

 Jacob finally had his turn to start baseball yesterday. He was so excited to follow in Tuttle's footsteps onto the field. He is playing on the Rockies this season, and he is ready to be the fastest boy on the team.

Honestly I was most excited about seeing him in all his baseball gear and dragged the whole family to practice early, so I could take pictures.

Jacob loved every minute of practice. The coaches set up stations to hit, throw, and catch. For the rest of the practice, each boy had a chance to hit and run the bases. We could not stop giggling when half of the boys were digging in the dirt and the other half ran in a big huddle to where the ball landed. :)

Opening Day

 The Pirates took the field on Saturday for Opening Day, and Tuttle had a large cheering section with our family and Gram and Grumps in the stands. Our boy was thrilled to find out before the game that he would be playing 2nd base and pitcher!

The outcome was not what we were hoping for, but the boys played well together for the first time. Tuttle made one amazing play with a pick off on 3rd and striking a few players out. He also was aggressive at bat.

We love watching our boy doing what he loves! The coach is optimistic on what the boys need to work on before the next game, and we are confident that Tuttle will grow even more as a player this year. Go Pirates!
