The 4th of July has always been my favorite holiday. I think it is a combination of the summer weather, the festive clothes, and the relaxing atmosphere. There is no stress leading up to the day.
The Peachtree Road Race has become a family tradition. This year was Jay's 8th race. I had planned to walk it this year, but my huge belly thought otherwise. Tuttle and I cheered on the runners with Paul, Val, Jon, and Stephanie. Unfortunately, we did not spot Jay. He is a serious runner, so he did not have time to stop for a photo op. :)
Tuttle quickly warmed up to the crowd and was soon waving a flag while saying "Go!" and "Bye! Bye!" to all the runners.
Jay completed the 10K in 46:33- a personal best! Go, Daddy!!
Grandmommy, Grandaddy, and Aunt Peach stopped by our house after the race for a little family time. Tuttle loved throwing the ball with Grandaddy and showing off his new room. We loved relaxing and chowing down on some BBQ from a local restaurant.
After a nap, we went to Katie and Cameron's house for a cookout. Cameron made the most delicious ribs and jerk chicken. Everyone was even able to catch some of the annual hotdog eating contest on t.v. Tuttle though it was HILARIOUS! It was the perfect end to this year's 4th of July. With the holiday being on a Wednesday, we packed in as much activity as possible while still leaving time to recoup and watch a movie before bedtime. :)
Happy 4th of July!
