The Big Countdown and Easter Fun

I am trying to ignore the fact that I will have a FOUR year old in just a few days. It is just flying by, and I wish I could keep him little forever. He makes my days, so rich.

We have enjoyed some Easter fun this week. Yesterday we dyed eggs. It was a quick project, but the kids enjoyed picking out the colors for their eggs and later eating an egg of their choice.

Today we visited the Easter Bunny at the mall. Although he is creepy looking to me, the kids loved snuggling next to him for a picture. Even Maggie put on her brave face to meet him. I am usually the mommy standing behind the photographer snapping my own pictures, but I got the vibe that might not be acceptable this time. :) I ordered the best picture, and it will be mailed, so I will show everyone once it arrives!

Tuttle, Maggie, and Gigi looked so sweet in their spring outfits.

Tomorrow we are taking candy filled eggs to the fire station to hide for the firefighters. Tuttle and Gigi have been practicing their hiding skills for a few weeks now at home. Tuttle has been asking when we could visit the fire station again recently, and our firefighters are always so sweet and inviting. I think it will be a fun adventure!

We also have two egg hunts to look forward to on Saturday (church hunt) and Monday (school hunt).

Tuttle's 4th Birthday Party

We celebrated Tuttle's 4th birthday a week early since his actual birthday is the day after Easter. Tuttle was so excited to celebrate with all his buddies!

Jay came up with the idea of hosting a movie under the stars for the kids in our front yard. We incorporated all of Tuttle's favorite things: Costco pizza, Batman Legos cake and ice cream, popcorn, and of course, jammies.

It was the perfect spring night, and we had a great turn-out (about 50 friends and family!)

After enjoying pizza and juice boxes, everyone sang, "Happy Birthday" to Tuttle.

Right before sunset we handed out popcorn, and everyone found a comfy spot to watch Peter Pan.

All the kids surprised me by staying focused on the movie the entire time. It was so sweet to listen to Tuttle's buddies laugh at Peter Pan and the pirates.

All the parents decided we need to make an outdoor movie night a monthly thing! It was such a success! :)

Happy 4th Birthday, Tuttle! We love you!!
The celebration continues next weekend with a small family lunch after church on Easter. :)

Spring Break Week

Tuttle and Gigi are on spring break this week, so I have been trying to plan some of their favorite field trips.

It poured rain ALL DAY Monday, but the three kids and I armed ourselves with rain boots and umbrellas to take Maggie to gymnastics. Moments before I pulled off the exit for the gym, I heard Maggie throw up all over herself. Before I could get to the parking lot to help her, she did it again. I think it was a combination of a HUGE breakfast and hard rain making her carsick. I pulled into a space as quickly as possible and cleaned up the mess. I told Maggie that we would go home and get new clothes, and she flipped out and started crying for gymnastics. I was parked right in front of a children's consignment shop, so I ran in and grabbed the cheapest t-shirt I could find off the rack, changed Maggie, and arrived at gymnastics only a few minutes late. Although Maggie was not completely herself, she had fun practicing her moves. (I probably get a bad mommy strike for taking my baby to gymnastics, but it made her happy.)

Tuesday we visited Tuttle's favorite place: LEGOLAND. I was apprehensive to go in because it looked like everyone in the state of Georgia decided to visit as well, but it was not too bad. The kids watched a 4-D movie, played with Legos, used lasers to shoot the bad Lego men, and admired Atlanta built out of Legos. We stayed about two hours before having a picnic lunch at the mall.

Today we braved Zoo Atlanta, and it was a MADHOUSE. Can you see the trend in kid-friendly activities during spring break? :) We made sure to see the favorite animals (elephants, giraffes, and gorillas), but we kept our visit short and sweet. The kids enjoyed some time playing on the playground which we usually skip.

Tomorrow we are meeting friends for a playdate and picnic at the park.

I wanted to list a few sweet/funny things that Tuttle and Maggie have been saying recently:

1. Last week Tuttle announced that he needed to go potty when we were playing in the front yard. I told him to go over in the bushes, but he informed me that he needed to go #2, so he went inside. A minute later Maggie calls my name. I look over, and her shirt is pulled up and her belly is poked out. She is holding her herniated belly button, and she tells me, "I tee-tee." Apparently she thinks she has the same "parts" as her big brother! Not only am I going to need to potty train Maggie soon, but I am going to have to teach her that she does not go tee-tee out of her belly button!

2. I have been refusing to accept the fact that Tuttle is growing up, so I am always asking him if he is my baby. He responds, "Yes. Your big boy baby." So sweet.

3. Maggie has become fascinated with Hello Kitty recently. When she says it, it sounds like "Da-Da Jilly." She wants a Da-Da Jilly cake for her birthday and Da-Da Jilly underwear.

4. Tuttle has mastered his ABC's now and can perfectly tell me each letter with his flashcards. He worked really hard to learn what each letter looked like, and I have been drilling him each afternoon during naptime. He is starting to recognize the sounds of each letter, too. I know he is going to be a bookworm once he learns to read.

Neighborhood Block Party

Saturday started off with a haircut for Tuttle and a pirate themed birthday party for Tuttle's buddy, Ryan. Tuttle and Maggie dressed the part and enjoyed a treasure hunt, hitting a piƱata, and eating cupcakes.

After naps, we were ready to visit with our neighbors at the annual block party for our street. We offered to host in our yard this year. There was a great turn out, and everyone had fun eating too much and meeting new neighbors. Tuttle and Maggie loved running around with all the big kids on the street. The kids blew bubbles and silly string and later shot off fireworks with the daddies.

Do you want to know the best part of the block party? Tuttle and Maggie slept until 10:45am this morning!!! I woke them up to enjoy biscuits and gravy from our sweet neighbor.

Today I went to the mall and the grocery with Tuttle. It was so nice to spend some time alone with my sweet boy. He picked out a new hat and a big cookie.

Parks and Playgrounds

Spring has sprung in Atlanta, and we soaked up every second of the 80 degree weather. We hit up a ton of parks this week, including two new locations that I am OBSESSED with. We tried Brook Run Park on Tuesday and Morgan Falls Park today.

Morgan Falls had this incredible climbing spider web that Tuttle and Gigi mastered by the end of the visit. Initially Tuttle was scared, and I had to rescue him several times, but he was determined to conquer his fear. He was so proud to show me his new skills of climbing up and down independently right before we left.

We also fed some VERY feisty geese and had a picnic by the lake. It was such a perfect spring day.

Soccer was a nice change from the cold temperatures last week. We arrived an hour early just to run around in the sun.

I am all over the place in the chronological order of this post, but Jay and I both got spring haircuts this past weekend. Don't I have the most handsome husband?

I went picture happy (What is new?) this week whenever we stepped outside.

Maggie insisted on sitting in the stroller (buckled) with her tiny baby even though we were not going on a walk. :)

Our cat enjoyed some company outside since he lost his spot on the couch once the temperatures increased. Tuttle and Maggie absolutely LOVE this cat.

We are hosting the neighborhood block party in our yard this Saturday, so cross your fingers for no rain!
