Easter 2023

We cannot resist driving to Peachtree Road Methodist Church for Easter service. The music, flowers, congregation, and message is always beautiful, and despite our best efforts in Roswell, we cannot find a church that compares, especially at the holidays.

After church we left for Gram and Grump's house for our annual Easter lunch and egg hunt. The adults are getting a little jealous of all the cash in those eggs!

Happy Easter! He LIVES!

Vacation Vibes

Prior to knowing Maggie's state meet schedule, we decided that the Thorne girls would fly to Orlando while the boys drove for our annual Disney trip. Maggie was thrilled because it would be her first time flying ever!

We were able to board the plane first to visit the cockpit. The flight was particularly special because two of the pilots were female. It was only a quick hour flight, and we were at our destination!

The boys were not too far behind, and everyone headed straight for the pool before prepping for our next day at the park.

We mixed up our typical Disney schedule and headed to Hollywood Studios. We braved the Tower of Terror and were able to meet up with the Peace Family for a ride since our trip overlapped by one park day. The Star Wars section always steals the show complete with a last minute free Lighting Lane to the Rise of the Resistance.

The next day was filled with Epcot adventures- my personal favorite! I did not take many pictures, but I think that proves that we were having that much more fun. We rode all the usual rides and were able to enjoy the brand new Guardians of the Galaxy ride. We ate our way through the countries with a new lunch stop in Italy. Surprisingly we lasted through the fireworks for the first time!

Everyone was craving a relaxing day at the pool for our third vacation day. While we usually venture to Disney Springs for dinner, Jay and I cancelled all plans for time at the hotel. Our feet needed it!

The grand finale ended at the Magic Kingdom. Another day of perfect weather and all the Disney Magic!

This was the point that we lost Jacob but still decided to take a family photo in front of the castle.

Since we skipped Disney Springs on our pool day, we left Magic Kingdom around 4pm and made a quick shopping trip to the Lego Store, the biggest Disney store, and a few other spots at Disney Springs. The kids left Orlando with a bag of memories and loot!

Disney really is the place where dreams come true! :)

Level 6 Success

At the beginning of March we traveled to Savannah, Georgia for the Kupets Pink Invitational with Maggie's team. This travel meet had been a long anticipated event, and it lived up to the hype! The competition was strong, but Maggie came to compete. She placed on Bars (9.375) and Floor (9.625). After competing on Friday evening, the girls were able to explore Savannah and hang out outside the gym.

The Roswell team continued their winning streak at the Sweet Tea Meet the following week. It was then time to focus on prepping for the state meet. To hype the girls, we organized a spirit week with a different theme each day. It was so much fun to see the girls' personalities shine while fine tuning their skills for the biggest meet of the season!

Camo Day

Diva Day

Patriotic Day

Cowgirl Day

Maggie was confident to compete in the State Meet. She has been consistent all season and worked hard at every practice. Despite an injury on bars last week, she showed up at the final meet and excelled! She placed 3rd on floor and bars, 4th on beam and 6th AA with a score of 37.675- her personal record in Level 6. Our amazing girl is bound for REGIONALS at the end of April. This has been her main goal all season, and she made it! Overall she placed 36 out of 190 Georgia Level 6 gymnasts. Proud is definitely an understatement!

The boys were waiting for our Maggie Moo when she returned home with flowers, balloons, and macarons to celebrate her accomplishments! (As a disclaimer, Maggie does not allow them to attend meets because it makes her too nervous.)

This is been a HUGE year for Maggie's development in the gym! She is ready for what is next with Roswell Gymnastics!
