Weekend Warriors

The whole family was very busy this past weekend after days and days of rain.

Mary Marshall and I slipped away Friday afternoon for a Women's Retreat through Peachtree Presbyterian Church at the Lake Lanier Legacy Lodge. After being cooped up all week with rainy weather, it was a much needed get away.

I was only gone one night, but three kids causes you to have to jigsaw together help to successfully attend all the practices, events, and games. Friday afternoon Grandmommy and Grandaddy came to help with Jacob and Maggie while Daddy took Tuttle to the Atlanta Hawks game to perform with his chorus. Maggie's teammate grabbed her for practice at the gym Friday evening while Jacob had one-on-one time at the house. Saturday Tuttle had an early soccer tournament game, and Maggie and Jacob stayed home with Grandmommy and Grandaddy since it was so cold. It takes a village.

I have the best husband that sent me straight to bed when I arrived home from the retreat, and I clearly needed it because I skipped dinner and slept from 7:30 until the next day.

Sunday morning the soccer tournament continued, and I cheered on Brookhaven FC to a shutout victory! Tuttle played goalie for the entire game and continues to prove his spot on the field.

This week has been filled with Mock Milestones, multiple projects, sports practices, a concert for Daddy, and cookie delivery. The days are long, but the years are short....

Rain, Rain, Go Away

We enjoyed one final day of clear skies on Sunday at church.

Maggie even dressed for the occasion. :)

We are hunkered down for a week full of rain, rain, and more rain. I have to get more creative to entertain the babies, especially Jacob.

I asked Jay to get the boat ready to get everyone to school tomorrow. Warm spring days, we are ready for you!

Dance Fever

The four school dances that I organized this week were so fun and successful! After three years of heading up the committee, it is now a well oiled machine, and I think I will continue it until Jacob graduates elementary school. I told the DJ he needs to stick with me until I roll off, as well. (He is really the best part of the event!) I added tables to make friendship bracelets this year instead of cards, and the school went through about 15,000 beads in two days- I think it was a hit!

Jacob tolerated three days of dance prep and a gym full of excited students while also skipping his nap. We were both ready for extra rest today!

Maggie attended her dance first on Wednesday. She asked a sweet boy in class to be her date and dragged him all over the gym without ever actually dancing. He was a good sport and even brought her a special Valentine's gift on Thursday. Glitter slime is definitely the way to Maggie's heart.

While Maggie on a field trip on Thursday, Tuttle had his dance. He also asked a girl to be his "date" and wanted to bring her flowers as a surprise. I just love Tuttle's classmates and hope I see them attending high school dances together, too!

Who wore it better?

Tuttle went home with a friend for bowling and a sleepover, and we kept the celebrating going at home. After eating endless cupcakes and cookies at school, it only  made sense to make a cake at home at 8:30pm. :)

Happy Valentine's Day 2019!

Eat. Sleep. Gym. Repeat.

We are getting used to our new normal with Maggie practicing at the gym more often. This past week she practiced Tuesday 4:30-7:30, Thursday 4:30-7:30, Friday 4:30-8:30, Saturday 9:00-11:00, and then attended TWO gymnastics parties on Sunday.

One would think she would be exhausted, but she continued practicing on the bar at home and spent the birthday parties trying to correct skills on the beam. I wish I had her energy!

We are preparing for a lot of valentine fun this week, so I prepped all the cards this weekend. I love creating unique valentines with the kids and am soaking up the fact that they still let me participate (especially Tuttle.) Maggie was easy to convince this year with a gymnastics theme and flip sequin keychains!

I look forward to Valentine's Day every year. It is the perfect excuse to shower my family with extra love!

Georgia Weather

Last Tuesday the kids were out of school for possible snow and freezing temperatures.

Today we saw 70 degree temperatures and lots of sunshine. Georgia weather always keeps us on our toes!

Buford Highway Trifecta

Jay and I planned a last minute date this past weekend when Gram offered to babysit. Jay has been wanting to take me to his gun range for a while now, so I planned an entire evening on Buford Highway.

I had not been to a gun range since Jay trained me on a gun when I lived alone in Athens. I was looking forward to seeing where he spends so much time, but I was not optimistic that I would enjoy actually shooting the gun. Surprisingly I not only liked the experience, but I was also pretty good! The targets were close, but I hit the paper with every every shot! :)

Our next stop was Lee's Bakery for pho. I cannot believe it was my first time trying it because noodles and broth are one of my favorites. Jay had only gone once before, and we both left completely stuffed but ready to come back again soon.

My contribution to the date was appointments at Treat Your Feet. It was our second time going on a date, and it was the perfect ending to our Buford Highway tour. The hour long foot massage flies by, and we always wish it was longer. The hot stone portion makes the experience over the top in my opinion!

We agreed that our datenights need to always include multiple activities, so we do not simply go to dinner and arrive back home before 9pm!

The Baldwin Family hosted a Super Bowl party last night for five families, including a thousand children. We all had the best time eating yummy food, running around with friends, and chatting while not watching a second of the actual game.

This week's forecast looks incredible with temperatures in the high 60s. I always call it the February tease because next week we will have a blizzard. But until the ground is covered in snow, we are spending as much time as possible outside!

Flipped Out

Maggie received the news yesterday that she has qualified for Level 3 Team at the Peach Pit. I could not wait to tell her when she got home from school! She will increase to four training days a week starting today and will max out her time at the gym during the summer at 16 hours a week. I cannot wait to see how much our little gymnast develops!

Competitions begin in the fall if she meets the standards for Level 3. I know she is going to work so hard to meet her goals!
