Falling Into Fall

We enjoyed some cooler temperatures this weekend with the beginning of fall.

Our weekend was full of sports as per usual, but this season Maggie and Tuttle continue to impress us with their development.

I wish I had pictures of Tuttle, but he runs from the camera. I can report that his team won both soccer games this weekend. Tuttle held strong in the goal. I love that he has found his spot on the field. He does get the opportunity to play offense sometimes, and he enjoys the challenge.

Maggie had her second gymnastics meet on Saturday afternoon. We left the boys at home and picked up Maggie's best friend, Kate, to cheer on our girl.

The judging was harder this weekend, but Maggie still shined on the bars with 2nd place in her age group. She set several personal goals and met them all, including sticking her landing on her bar routine and completing her roundoff back handspring without a spot. Her scores improved on 3/4 events from her first meet. We are so proud of our tiny gymnast.

We celebrated a successful meet with dinner at Moes (Maggie's favorite) and shopping at Target. We do not have to wait long for her next meet next Sunday!

Maggie and I made fall goodies for all the teachers and coaches, and I went a little nuts with fall flavored food at the grocery. I am convinced if we act like it is the fall that the temperatures will follow suit! :)

Go Dawgs!

Daddy and I broke the kids out of school early on Friday to head to Athens for the weekend.

We wanted to get into town before afternoon traffic hit, and we arrived downtown for an early dinner at Little Italy.

Our Saturday morning started early since kickoff was at noon. It was the perfect overcast day, so we were able to walk around campus a little bit without melting!

The Bulldawgs pulled out a big win against Arkansas State, but I had the real winning view from my seat! :)

We lasted until halftime thanks to ice cream and candy.

We always love our family day during football season!

Jay suggested that we go to Cali-n-Titos for lunch (my favorite!), so I could not pack up my things fast enough. I honestly think it is worth driving to Athens just to devour the Cubano Especial.

Once we returned to Granny's house, we sent the kids into the backyard to explore while we melted into the couch for some down time. Everyone headed to bed early, too!

We were in no rush to return home on Sunday, so we grabbed food at Inoko Express (there seems to be a clear food theme this weekend), and Daddy took the big kids downtown to shop while Jacob and I took a nap. It was another memorable weekend in Athens!

Winning Weekend Warriors

The Thorne kids really outdid themselves this weekend with their sports performances.

The much anticipated first gymnastics meet finally arrived, and Maggie could barely contain her excitement on Friday when she received her gear. The warm-ups are still in route, but the competition leo, personalized bag and shoes, and "poof poof" were immediately modeled when she got home from practice.

Neither Maggie nor I really knew what to expect, but the meet was one of the most exciting and nail biting experiences as a parent. Maggie has worked so hard for almost six year since she started gymnastics at 16 months, and she was confident and ready to show off her skills.

She has really come a long way from the tiny gymnast admiring the team girls.

I could go on and on about all the events and action, but ultimately our girl killed it. She won Level 3 Junior A 1st Place on Beam, 3rd Place on Bars, and 7th All Around. To say we are proud is an understatement. She was beaming with all her medals. I told her we would be just as proud if she walked away with nothing, but a successful first meet was the cherry on top of the fun day!

Gram was there to cheer on our Maggie Moo and was so impressed that she wants to come to all future meets.

The sports did not end there on Saturday. We left Daddy, Maggie, and Jacob at home to recover after the meet, and Tuttle and I went to his home soccer game. Tuttle played goalie for the first half and did not allow any balls to go past him, but the highlight was the second half. Tuttle scored not one, but TWO goals. He has not scored since starting club soccer, so this was a HUGE moment for him as a player. I could see his confidence soar, and he became much more aggressive in his playing. I hope this lights a fire under him for the season!

To end the already AMAZING weekend, Jay and Tuttle were given tickets to the Braves game on Sunday by a gymnastics family. They sat four rows behind home plate and were able to enjoy all the yummy food and drinks from the club area. What a treat- even if the Braves lost!

Go Thorne Kids! You won this weekend!

Back To School

Jacob officially started preschool in the Fireflies Class on Wednesday. He was a little slow to leave his comfy morning at home snuggling in pajamas with breakfast on the couch, but I know he will soon be waiting at the door to play with his friends at school.

I almost did not know what to do with myself for three hours alone. Of course I spent some of the time shopping for supplies for a preschool party next month!

When I picked up Jacob at noon, he told me that he was "a little bit" nice to his friends and only hit on the playground. He truly is a wild third child. We talked about having nice hands, and I hope to get a completely positive report on Friday.

We hit another milestone when Maggie finally let me pull her front tooth that has been loose for weeks. I did not think I could love Maggie's smile more than before, but her little gap puts it over the top! :)

Back In The Goal

Tuttle participated in his first soccer tournament with his new team this weekend. Our coach has already made an impact on Tuttle's game in the last few weeks, and we are excited to see how much he develops during the season.

The Publix Atlanta Cup was local, but Maggie and Jacob were devoted fans to cheer on their big brother in the August heat. Tuttle spent most of his time in the goal, and he proved himself to the team and the parents that he would be a strong choice for the goalie in future games.

The boys only pulled out one win out of three games, but they played with a lot of heart. Buckhead United should be proud of themselves but also ready to improve for future games and tournaments.

In between games we fit in a family puzzle. Jacob is finally old enough to participate, and everyone helped complete the puzzle in record time.

Regular season games start next weekend, and Tuttle is challenged to prove his position on the team each week to make the A or B game. Let's see what our boy can show on the field!
