Summer: Week 1

This summer is already exceeding expectations. Jacob has really hit a good age and can handle any adventure we throw his way. We are enjoying the sunshine, friends, and exploring Atlanta.

It is already HOT, so each day requires cooling off in the water. The only thing I am missing is a towel fairy to wash and fold the endless supply of towels needed for this crew. :)

Mable Fleming Corbitt

Mable Fleming Corbitt, my grandmother, passed away on May 20, 2019 at the age of 98. We celebrated her life in Willacoochee, Georgia with family and friends. It was a service full of tears and laughter as we remembered how special Grandma was to our lives. I was honored to read several of her poems.

All the Corbitt women wore costume jewelry passed down by Grandma. Maggie chose the brooch that I also used on my wedding bouquet.

I have grown up in the church and always followed Jesus, but I felt an overwhelming sense of peace sitting in the church service honoring Grandma. I know we will see her again one day, and I know she is rejoicing in Heaven.

These five great-grandchildren were extremely blessed to have Grandma in their lives for so long.

Everyone knew that visiting the Corbitt Hardware Store was the final stop of the day. Happily Junior opened the store especially for us since the store was closed that day for Grandma's funeral.

Every time I walk into that store my childhood comes alive again. The smell has not changed in over 30 years, and I wish I could bottle it up.

We crammed into the store front. Grandma left behind such a unique, strong, and special family.

Jacob loves to tell everyone that Grandma went to Heaven, and she is now in the sky. I know she is looking down and smiling on us.

"Here we go up in the sky.
Here we go, oh, so high!
See the birds fluttering by
When we go up in the sky."

Memorial Day Weekend

Home of the free because of the brave.

Thank you for all that gave the ultimate sacrifice. Freedom is not free, and we will always remember and honor those that served to protect us.

Sweet Summertime

That's A Wrap!

We made it to summer vacation. Everyone is looking forward to sleeping in, no homework, flexible schedules, and making memories at our favorite spots. I am so proud of all three babies for everything they accomplished this year.

Tuesday morning Tuttle and Maggie received their awards. Gram was able to come, too, so it was extra special. Jacob acted like a moody toddler all morning, but that did not take away from the celebration of the big kids taking home all the accolades they have been working so hard to achieve.

Maggie was up first with Flying Eagle (All A's) and Perfect Attendance for the entire year. Maggie is very self-motivated, so 1st grade was much easier the second time around.

Tuttle received Flying Eagle for the entire year and Perfect Attendance for second semester. He only missed one day of school the second week of school! Third grade was no joke, and I am extremely proud that Tuttle pulled off such high grades. Unfortunately Tuttle probably gets the most pressure being the first child, but he always rises to the occasion. (I probably won't even know if Jacob is actually at school when it is his turn!)

Jacob finished his year first with a summer party on Wednesday. He had the sweetest class this year, and I am so sad to end the year and not be in class with the same babies next year. Jacob will stay at the MWF schedule while many of his friends are going five days a week. Jacob absolutely loved his teachers and gave them the biggest hugs as he left.

I cannot believe how much Jacob grew this year. He really changed from a baby into a little boy. That transition from two years old to three years old is very obvious. I cannot wrap my head around no more bottles or diapers in our house ever again.

The last day at the elementary school was filled with class parties. Fortunately Tuttle and Maggie's parties were back to back starting at 8am. Jacob and I walked up there after carpool dropoff.

This celebration was bittersweet since we are losing several of our best friends to the local magnet school next year. We are still crossing our fingers that they change their minds. :)

Maggie's party was only for the students, but since I was delivering teacher gifts for the class, I was able to stop by the fun!

Jacob made sure to get a fresh summer cut before the official start of summer. We are ready now!

Happy Summer 2019!

The Bolt, Babies, and Ballet (Plus Soccer!)

Our crazy May schedule continued this weekend with four fun events. It was a divide and conquer weekend, so Jay and I really only saw each other in passing!

Much to Tuttle's dislike, Saturday started bright and early with a 7:30am soccer game for Tuttle and an 8:00am start time for the Brookhaven Bolt for Maggie, Jacob, and me.

Maggie's competitive side came out, and she ran the 5K by herself while Jacob and I walked behind with the strollers. Maggie may be tiny, but if there is an athletic award to be given, she is determined to place. She was thrilled to find out she won second place in her age group 0-7 with a 31:48 time which has a 10:14 mile pace! She also placed in the top third of all runners! Go, Maggie Moo!

Daddy and Tuttle knocked out two soccer tournament games with Brookhaven FC on Saturday, and I attended a baby shower to celebrate the newest addition to our college group. Zanna is due with Baby Boy #2 in October. This makes SIXTEEN babies for our friends and only three girls. The boy gene is strong in my friends! :)

I do not see my college friends nearly enough, so I soaked up all the catching up we did at the party. Rachel hosted at her beautiful home in Decatur, and everything looked straight out of a magazine. Zanna was the prettiest pregnant momma ever, and I am so excited for all her new adventures as her little family moves to Las Vegas!

Sunday was just as busy, and it started with another soccer game for Tuttle. Jay kept Maggie and Jacob at the house, so it was an easier morning.

Our final big event of the weekend was Holland's ballet recital for the girls while the boys finished Tuttle's soccer tournament. We loved watching our favorite tiny dancer on stage!

We have finally made it to the LAST week of school. We are looking forward to a little relaxation soon!
