Jacob Meets Grandma

Yesterday while Tuttle and Maggie were in school, I took Jacob to meet Grandma. Jacob is Grandma's FIFTH great-grandchild. My mom met us at my grandmother's retirement home for lunch and a short visit, too.

We chatted in Grandma's apartment while Jacob had a bottle. The funniest part of the day was trying to explain to a 95 year old blind woman how Facebook works! I recently took a part time job with a children's clothing company, and we conduct most of our sales on Facebook. Grandma wanted to hear about my job responsibilities, so my mom and I attempted to explain how Facebook operates. I do not think any of it made an ounce of sense to her! :) Even the idea of a website was too foreign for Grandma even though we compared it to a catalog on the computer.

We ate lunch in the dining hall, and Gram held Jacob the entire time. I forgot what it was like to eat with two hands! Although it was a short visit, Jacob and I loved the special time with Grandma and Gram. We have a fairly small family, so new family members are a HUGE deal!

We hope to be back to visit Grandma again soon with all three babies.

Weekend Wrap-Up

We had such a busy weekend filled with a lot of fun activities! Mommy and Daddy both had long weeks, so we were ready to relax and enjoy our babies. Jacob was very ready for the weekend! :)

On Saturday while Tuttle attended a classmate's birthday that included a magician performance, Daddy took Maggie on a special Daddy/Daughter Date to the Swan Coach House. They both got dressed up for the big event. Jay loved reconnecting with Maggie with some special one-on-one attention.

Saturday afternoon we went to a fiesta at Aunt Peach and Uncle Drew's house to celebrate their recent trip to Cancun. We ate tacos, busted a pinata, and dressed up in souvenirs from the trip. Grandmommy and Grandaddy as well as Drew's family attended the event. Aunt Peach's house is the perfect spot to entertain. We cannot wait for the next big event there- Holland's 1st Birthday!

Sunday we attended another birthday party for Tuttle's buddy, Liam. Tuttle and Maggie were able to try a new sport- ice skating! Daddy helped both babies glide around the rink while I snuggled Jacob. After cake and pizza we were able to catch a few minutes of a hockey game. We had to pull Tuttle away from the action. We will definitely be back to ice skate again soon!

We loved the variety of activities this weekend! Our family time always flies by much too quickly, but the weekend was full of memory making. :)

Jacob Turns One Month!

Jacob Corbitt has been a part of our family for one month now.

Everyone in the family is completely in love with our new baby, especially Tuttle and Maggie. Jacob weighs 9 pounds, 10 ounces (39%) and measures 22.5 inches (87%). He is fitting right in with Thorne boys- tall and skinny!

Jacob eats 2-3 ounces every 2.5-3 hours on average. We are using Enfamil Newborn right now until my formula stash gets depleted. He is starting to have more wake time during the day and seems to understand when it is nighttime now. He slept his longest stretch last night from 11pm-5am! I hope this trend continues because I am officially tired now. :)

Jacob has adjusted right away to being on the go with his big brother and sister. He is happy in the carseat or the Ergo carrier, but he definitely sleeps soundly if he has the chance to nap at home. He is the happiest if his mommy is holding him, and I am completely fine with soaking up each moment with my little boy. He likes to spend short amounts of time on his playmat or laying in his bed.

I feel like Jacob is the perfect final baby for our family. During our newborn stage with Tuttle we were just new parents trying to figure it all out. Maggie suffered from severe acid reflux, so I honestly was just trying to make it out of the newborn times, so we could experience a happy baby. Jacob is making my mommy heart full with baby snuggles and glimpses of little baby smiles. I am trying to take in everyday. I cannot believe he is already a month. It is flying by!

We love you, Jacob Corbitt!

P.S. Jay told me that I needed to get a better monthly sign for Jacob's photos. I told him that I realized last minute that it was his one month birthday, and he was lucky to even get a picture. #thirdchildproblems

Valentine's Day Parties

We have been celebrating Valentine's Day for several days now, and I have loved every second! I even ordered Tuttle and Maggie's valentines in January. They both helped select the designs. :)

Tuttle worked very hard to create a special box to hold his valentines at school. He was extremely proud of the final product, and it was so popular among his friends when I brought it to his class. The Pokemon craze has taken over. Although I do not understand it at all, Tuttle loves to collect the cards and watch the television show.

After ballet Maggie and I rushed to the elementary school to help while the kids exchanged cards. Between speaking German 100% of the time to organizing 24 kindergarten students, Tuttle's teacher is a SAINT!

Maggie has become so comfortable in Tuttle's class. She walks right in like she is part of the class. I know she will feel confident when it is her time to start kindergarten!

The students passed out their cards, enjoyed a mini cupcake, and played a relay game with marshmallows. The teachers needed a four day weekend after it was all over! :) Tuttle LOVES his school, teachers, and friends!

Today we celebrated with Maggie's Kangaroo friends at preschool. Tuttle did not have school, so he was able to attend the party, as well. Maggie ate some yummy treats and decorated a heart cookie.

Later we were able to soak up some nice weather on the playgound. I absolutely adore these sweet girls! (Some candy might have been used to bribe Maggie for this picture! LOL)

How can you not love Valentine's Day with these THREE babies?

XOXO

Hodgepodge of Happenings

Grandmommy and Grandaddy stopped by on Saturday to return Smelly to us and to visit the kids. It was such a huge help for them to keep the dog for the first few weeks after Jacob's arrival! Jacob enjoyed snuggling in Grandaddy's lap for a while. (I sneaked off to an afternoon at the spa compliments of Jay. He booked a massage for me after surviving two weeks alone with three kids!)

Jay and I are both trying to get back into shape, so we started Sunday morning with a family hike up Kennesaw Mountain. We climbed the mountain two years ago but had not been back since then. It was a beautiful day for some exercise outside!

I struggled to successfully make it to the top, but I did it! Jacob and Maggie definitely got out easy this time. We hope to integrate more family exercise into our routine now. It was a lot of fun!

After lunch Maggie got dressed for a special afternoon at Atlanta Ballet. She attended the annual Princess Tea. I dropped her off for almost three hours at her studio. She created her own wand, watched the "big ballerinas" perform a few dances, enjoyed juice and a cupcake, and got her face painted. She LOVED every second!

Monday I was FINALLY able to meet Xander, my best friend Zanna's new baby! She was visiting from Florida, and we were able to catch up and go on a quick walk. I know Jacob and Xander will be best friends just like their mommas!

Tuttle and Maggie are looking forward to celebrating Valentine's Day with their friends this week.

We have two class parties, and Tuttle gets to soak up a four day weekend starting Friday! :)

Surviving Three Kids

I successfully survived two weeks alone with the babies while Jay was in San Diego for business. We missed him like crazy and are thrilled that we are reunited again as a family of five. Although the time alone with Tuttle, Maggie, and Jacob wore me out, I still believe the transition to three kids has been pretty smooth. Jacob really is a good baby.

Jay booked an afternoon at the spa for me tomorrow, and I am looking forward to relaxing alone for a little while. I know it will recharge me to tackle another week of karate practices, middle of the night feedings, laundry, and sibling fights. :)
