"Snow" Days

We have experienced some winter weather this week, and we have been trying to stay warm and entertained inside.

We had our first dusting of snow yesterday. The kids were able to run around in it for a few minutes before we headed to school. Tuttle's teachers took the Dragon Class out to play right away because it was already melting. :)

After school I ran the kids over to the consignment sale that I was participating in. We had already shopped it on Saturday, but Elsa and Spiderman were making an appearance. Gigi and Tuttle absolutely loved getting their faces painted and posing with their favorite characters. Maggie was excited about the idea of it, but she stayed safely in my arms the entire time.

School was cancelled today due to the threat of a winter storm. We are just starting to see some sleet, but tonight may be worse. I think Atlanta is just being extra careful after Snowmageddon 2014. Luckily we were able to fit in Maggie's gymnastics, a trip to the post office, and a quick trip to deliver Daddy's truck keys to him at work after he locked them in his car. :)

Tuttle and Maggie are so excited about the idea of snow that I hope we get a few inches tonight.

End of Basketball and A Sleepover

Tuttle had his final basketball game this past Friday. I secretly was ready for the season to be over. It was fun, but Tuttle is much more interested in soccer, and the drive to the games on Friday afternoons at 5pm were sometimes a struggle. :)

Tuttle was determined to finally score at the last game. He had tried so hard each week. Luckily his coach gave him enough chances, and he made the final shot of the game! I was very happy for Tuttle because he would have been crushed if he never scored during the season. He even received a basketball medal to add to his collection.

Tuttle had been looking forward to Saturday night for months. His best buddy from preschool was coming over for Tuttle's first slumber party! Cooper arrived around 5:30 pm, and the boys got right to playing Legos, dressing up in costumes, and running all around the house. Grandmommy and Grandaddy took Maggie to their hotel for the night; they had come up to watch Tuttle and Maggie while Jay and I went to a consignment sale for Aunt Peach.

After pizza for dinner, the boys watched Ghostbusters and munched on popcorn and cookies. It was the perfect end to the night. The boys went right to sleep after the movie.

I guess we are officially entering a new territory with sleepovers. Tuttle is growing up way too fast!

Cold and Ice

We started off Monday with a break from school due to President's Day. I knew every indoor attraction or play place would be PACKED since it was so cold, so we headed to the movies to see Paddington. :)

I had never seen a movie at the Phipps Plaza AMC, but I had heard wonderful things about the comfy seats. They did not disappoint. The seats reclined all the way back, allowed you to put your feet up, and were extra squishy. They were so comfortable that Maggie fell asleep in my arms about halfway through the movie! I thought the movie was super cute and could not get enough of Tuttle's laughter at Paddington.

Today school was cancelled due to freezing rain, and I think we were all a little stir crazy. I honestly do not have any idea how families in the North survive when they are snowed in for weeks! We were able to leave the house for swim lessons, but I know everyone is ready to return back to school and a normal schedule tomorrow!

Parties

Our week has been full of parties! The first event was Wednesday evening at the preschool for "Desserts with Dad." Tuttle could not wait for Jay to get home from work, so they could leave for a special evening together. From what I gather it was pure FUN chaos. They ate cupcakes, made Valentines for Maggie and me, and the kids ran around. Tuttle had a blast showing off his buddies to his daddy.

Tuttle did present Daddy with this special picture that he drew for the event. :)

We finished the valentines on Wednesday. I think they turned out so cute!

Maggie's preschool Valentine's Day party was Thursday. She could not wait to show off her valentines to Ms. Jen and Ms. Emma. I arrived toward the end of the school day for a little class party. Maggie absolutely loved the food. She literally asked for seconds of everything which is nothing like my string bean girl. I think her favorite part was the cheese sandwich in the shape of a heart.

At the end of the party I was trying to get Maggie and her best friend Hadley to take a picture together, but the girls were not cooperating. Maggie finally agreed to stand up for a picture, and sweet Anna ran over to hold Maggie's hand. Love.

Tuttle's Valentine's Day party was today. He had requested to bring flowers for the girls in his class, so we picked up tulips last night at Costco. He did not want to bring roses because "they have those spiky things." He is already a ladies' man in Pre-K. Pray for the teenage years! :)

I was able to drop in for a few minutes in the classroom as they were finishing up the special valentine food. One of his classmate's grandmother brought a cute craft for the kids to make, so I helped Tuttle make a little fuzzy valentine monster.

I could not love my little valentines any more! XOXO

Mystery Fever

Tuttle and Maggie started off feeling great on their way to preschool Tuesday morning.....

But when I went to pick them up after school, Tuttle was in the school office with a fever of 101 degrees. He absolutely hates complaining, so he never told his teacher he was not feeling well. Ms. Linda noticed that he was slumping down during art class, felt his forehead, and realized he was burning up. :(

His energetic, happy mood quickly changed into a sick little boy that just needed some rest. Luckily Daddy came home from work early, so Tuttle got some extra snuggles and sleep.

The next day he felt fine until around three in the afternoon. The fever returned with no other symptoms. After missing school Wednesday and Thursday, he was ready to return to his Dragon friends Friday, just in time for Playball.

Maggie did not show any signs of feeling bad until Saturday. She was very clingy all morning and lost interest in our bike ride within twenty minutes into it.

By the time we got home she had a low grade fever. After a quick lunch she asked to rest in her bed and slept over three hours. Unfortunately her sickness came at the worst time because she had to miss her Daddy/Daughter Datenight at Chickfila. Daddy promised her that they would go on a special date as soon as possible. We ended the night with a family movie: Honey, I Shrunk The Kids. :)

Everyone was feeling much better this morning for church.

The Thorne Family thoroughly enjoyed some beautiful weather today, and we are ready for the upcoming week. Cross your fingers that the mystery fever is gone from our house!

Pink Eye

I noticed a little eye goop on Maggie's eyes around lunchtime on Saturday. It quickly turned into full blown pink eye by bedtime. I had pink eye a zillion times as a child, so it was only a matter of time until my children had it.

Grandmommy and Grandaddy came over to visit Saturday afternoon, and we decided to pick up Mellow Mushroom pizza instead of going out to eat as we had previously planned since Maggie's eyes were so bad. She was such a trooper and did not show any discomfort.

Maggie woke up a few times after she went to bed, but after midnight she slept straight through until I woke her up at 10am to go to the Minute Clinic!!

She was absolutely pitiful until we got the eye drops, but the medicine quickly made a difference, and she is on the mend. I have been busy washing everything that will fit into the washing machine, so the germs will be eliminated. Tuttle was so good all weekend playing by himself while I took care of Maggie and Daddy had to wrap up some work. He is just the sweetest.
