Jet Setting To D.C.

Daddy and Tuttle went on a one day adventure to Washington D.C yesterday. The grandparents gave Tuttle money for his birthday to go toward this memorable trip. It was Tuttle's first time on an airplane, so it was extra special!

The boys woke up early (4am!) to catch the first flight of the day to D.C. The day was go, go, go from the beginning, but they were able to fit in a lot in one day!

A friend recommended a bike tour of the city, and it was a huge success. Daddy and Tuttle received a private tour, so it was able to be geared toward a 9 year old boy which helps when you are seeing so many monuments, memorials, and important spots. The weather was absolutely perfect at 80 degrees and sunny. The WWII Memorial was the favorite for both.

After lunch at the food trucks located at the Washington Monument, the boys visited the new International Spy Museum. Tuttle loved all the interactive exhibits and left with a fake Dr. Pepper bottle to hide treasures inside from Jacob and Maggie. The travelers were able to pop into the National Air and Space Museum before catching a 7pm flight back to Atlanta. I know this trip will be very memorable for both Daddy and Tuttle. It was the perfect 9th birthday gift! We are already discussing the next best spot for a one day trip!

I kept the Middle and the Little busy while the boys were jet setting. We went to the movies to see Dora and the Lost City of Gold and ate at Moe's for a late lunch. Maggie ate her taco as well as Jacob's while our little boy filled up on chips and dip.

We kept the fun going with an afternoon visit to Zoo Atlanta. We just recently renewed our membership and have already visited three times in just a few weeks, so it was worth joining again.

It started to sprinkle just as we wrapped up the petting zoo. We grabbed a quick treat for our walk back to the car and drove home. It was a busy, fun, and exhausting day for all the Thorne family members.

Jacob gets to continue enjoying his last week of summer with a sleepover at Gram and Grump's house tonight and tickets to the Georgia Aquarium tomorrow. I know he will love the individual attention!
