Winning Weekend Warriors

The Thorne kids really outdid themselves this weekend with their sports performances.

The much anticipated first gymnastics meet finally arrived, and Maggie could barely contain her excitement on Friday when she received her gear. The warm-ups are still in route, but the competition leo, personalized bag and shoes, and "poof poof" were immediately modeled when she got home from practice.

Neither Maggie nor I really knew what to expect, but the meet was one of the most exciting and nail biting experiences as a parent. Maggie has worked so hard for almost six year since she started gymnastics at 16 months, and she was confident and ready to show off her skills.

She has really come a long way from the tiny gymnast admiring the team girls.

I could go on and on about all the events and action, but ultimately our girl killed it. She won Level 3 Junior A 1st Place on Beam, 3rd Place on Bars, and 7th All Around. To say we are proud is an understatement. She was beaming with all her medals. I told her we would be just as proud if she walked away with nothing, but a successful first meet was the cherry on top of the fun day!

Gram was there to cheer on our Maggie Moo and was so impressed that she wants to come to all future meets.

The sports did not end there on Saturday. We left Daddy, Maggie, and Jacob at home to recover after the meet, and Tuttle and I went to his home soccer game. Tuttle played goalie for the first half and did not allow any balls to go past him, but the highlight was the second half. Tuttle scored not one, but TWO goals. He has not scored since starting club soccer, so this was a HUGE moment for him as a player. I could see his confidence soar, and he became much more aggressive in his playing. I hope this lights a fire under him for the season!

To end the already AMAZING weekend, Jay and Tuttle were given tickets to the Braves game on Sunday by a gymnastics family. They sat four rows behind home plate and were able to enjoy all the yummy food and drinks from the club area. What a treat- even if the Braves lost!

Go Thorne Kids! You won this weekend!
