Zoo Atlanta

A major perk of my nanny job is the memberships that the family purchases. Over the past year and a half, we have enjoyed memberships to Fernbank, The Children's Museum, The Center for Puppetry Arts, and Zoo Atlanta. In my opinion, Zoo Atlanta is the best value: it is reasonably priced, there is free parking, and you can pack a lunch. Plus, the zoo is about two miles from the kids' house, so we can go for a couple hours, and it is not big deal.

Today, we braved the summer heat to see the animals at the zoo. Although the high was around 95 degrees, the shade at the zoo and the lack of sticky humidity allowed us to enjoy about three hours of fun!
The kids LOVE the parakeet area where you can feed the birds, and they literally zoom by your head! Tuttle was mesmerized by all the colorful feathers.

He has recently started pointing at everything. Here he is pointing out a bird. He was more into the zoo today than any other time we have gone. He was either pointing out animals or scanning the habitats for interesting things.

The gorillas are my personal favorite section at the zoo, but it really isn't the same without Willie B. This generation really missed out! Hehe

I thought Tuttle would be jumping out of my arms in the petting zoo since he spends a lot of his time chasing the cat around the apartment, but he only wanted to enjoy the goats, sheep, and pigs from a safe distance in my arms.

We are so lucky to live in such a fun city!
